Water Heater Installation & Maintenance in Fort Collins & Surrounding Areas
Reliable Hot Water
Hot Water, Handled Right the First Time
A water heater is one of those things nobody thinks about until it fails, usually at the worst possible moment. Rugged Ridge Construction installs and maintains water heaters across Fort Collins and Northern Colorado with the standard Brad built his plumbing career on. He spent six years working under experienced contractors before earning his Colorado master plumber license.
Whether you’re replacing an aging tank, switching to tankless, or just want a system that’s been properly maintained instead of ignored, we handle it directly. No subcontracted plumbing, no middleman between you and the person doing the work.

Our Advantage
Sized Right, Installed Right
Sized to Your Home
Licensed Plumbing Work
Venting, pressure relief, and gas connections are handled by our master plumber, not subbed out.
Maintenance That Prevents Failure
Routine flushing and inspection can catch a failing part long before it becomes a flooded utility closet.
Our Commitment
No Shortcuts on Safety
Rugged Ridge Construction has operated on the same standard since 2022: accurate quotes, honest scheduling, and work finished properly. Water heater installs are unforgiving of shortcuts. Venting and pressure relief either meet code or they don’t, so we don’t cut corners to save a visit.
Wisetack financing is available for larger installs or full replacements. We’ll go over the numbers with you before any work starts.
Rugged Ridge Construction is a registered Colorado plumbing contractor (Reg. No. 5335). Plumbing work is led by Brad Loper, Colorado master plumber license no. 3001338.

Maintenance That Actually Extends the Life of the Unit
Most tanks fail the same way: the sacrificial anode rod wears out, and once it’s gone the steel tank corrodes from the inside until it leaks. Sediment speeds that up by trapping heat against the tank bottom, which is why flushing matters. We offer straightforward maintenance visits that catch small problems (a failing anode rod, a slow leak, a pressure relief valve due for replacement) before they become a flooded utility closet.
Tank or Tankless: An Honest Comparison
A traditional tank heats and stores a set amount of water, which is usually the more affordable option upfront and the simpler system to service. A tankless unit heats water on demand, so there’s no full tank sitting there losing heat around the clock and hot water doesn’t run out mid-shower. What it can’t do is exceed its flow rate. Past a certain number of fixtures running at once, it won’t keep up, and colder incoming water in winter tightens that limit further. It also costs more to install, especially if the home doesn’t already have the gas line or venting a tankless unit needs.
Neither option is automatically right. A larger household that runs multiple showers back to back often sees real benefit from tankless. A smaller household or a tighter budget often does just as well with a well-sized tank, maintained properly. We walk through the actual math with you (install cost against expected utility savings) rather than pushing whichever unit has a better margin.
What Maintenance Actually Involves
A maintenance visit isn’t just a quick look. We flush the tank to clear sediment buildup, check the anode rod for corrosion, test the pressure relief valve, and inspect connections and venting for wear. On gas units, we also confirm the burner and venting are operating safely. The flush and the inspection go fast. Pulling the anode rod takes longer, since the tank has to drain first and the plug was torqued at the factory. Done on a regular schedule, it can add years to a unit’s working life.
